Water Intake

SCS remote control solutions enable the management of water pumping and transfer from its source (surface or underground) to treatment plants.

In this process, the objectives are to optimize water intake, control pumping, and monitor water quality.

The equipment used, along with associated sensors, allows:

  • Controlling and monitoring the pumping process.

  • Monitoring the physical-chemical parameters of water quality.

  • Controlar parámetros físico-químicos de la calidad del agua.
  • Receiving alerts in case of incidents.

Water Treatment

Drinking water treatment plants are complex infrastructures, divided into functional units controlled by PLCs. Remote control stations enable the management of complementary processes, such as:

  • Chlorine level control.
  • Pump activation.

  • Sending alerts for water pump incidents.

Storage

Water storage tanks are located in remote areas and must be continuously monitored for their filling levels.

The main needs to be covered include:

  • Monitoring filling levels.

  • Controlling chlorine dosing pumps.

  • Detecting leaks.

  • Reading outlet meters.
  • Intrusion detection.

Distribution

SCS DATALOGGERS support water operators in controlling drinking water distribution networks. This process involves gathering data from the distribution infrastructure to analyze and diagnose potential issues as quickly as possible for a rapid response:

  • Flow measurement and analysis of peak, daily, and nighttime graphs.

  • Pressure level control.

  • Leak detection.

  • Detection of unregistered water (NRW).

  • Reading interconnection meters.

Sanitation

Solutions for the remote management of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs).

Depending on the parameters to be measured, levels of treatment products and the quality of discharged water are monitored.

Water quailty

This concept refers to the chemical, physical, biological, and radiological characteristics of water, with reference values for each specific need, as well as the status of water bodies.

Each application sector, based on its specific needs, determines the adequacy levels of variables that define water quality. Water quality monitoring varies across drinking water cycles, irrigation, or river channels.

With these premises, SCS offers solutions that monitor and validate the most relevant variables established for different cases, always ensuring environmental protection. The equipment is installed in control or sampling stations, integrating the necessary sensors to measure physical-chemical variables.

Strict Regulations

One of the key aspects when planning measurement variables is compliance with sector-specific regulations.

These regulations define the variables to be monitored, reference values, and threshold limits. This ensures that water delivered for each purpose meets the required quality standards.

SCS DATALOGGERS are designed to monitor these parameters, transmit data at set intervals, and issue alerts when values exceed limits. For projects requiring it, they can also integrate a sample collection system.

Some Use Cases with Parameters

  • Drinking Water: pH, temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, chlorine, total dissolved solids (TDS).

  • Wastewater: COD, pH, Redox, nitrates.

  • Irrigation: pH, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, conductivity.

  • Leachates in Irrigation: Temperature, salinity, flow rate, nitrite levels.

River Channels and Floods

SCS DATALOGGER solutions can measure and transmit real-time data on flow, level, or water quality to plan and anticipate optimal decisions in the event of floods.

By monitoring water channels with these analysis devices, proper tracking of events such as heavy rains for flood prediction is ensured, as well as detecting changes in physical-chemical parameter levels that may indicate potential alterations in water quality.

This way, we provide the appropriate equipment for Early Flood Warnings, sending data alerts to control centers before, during, and after flood events.

We tailor the most optimal solutions for each case, considering the characteristics of the areas managed by river channel authorities. All of this is possible thanks to our in-house design, development, and manufacturing of equipment, which can be adapted to meet the specific functionalities of each project if necessary.
